Saturday Morning Fever

Saturday Morning Fever dt-published

Saturday Morning Fever is the opening track and first single from Bedroom Days.

That song is all about that feeling of waking up at the crack of dawn, preparing a bowl of sugar-loaded cereal and spending hours visiting familiar and unfamiliar worlds, cartoon or otherwise. A complete escape from reality that became its own sort of reality, interspersed with commercial blocks where we were sold toys, friends, places, happiness just out of reach.

I think on those times fondly for the complete, pure simplicity they offered, a respite from a life that was too complex for someone so young.

Major thanks to Thorisson and Johnny Haven for listening to an early cut of this track and providing thoughtful, helpful feedback that helped make it that much better.

The other tracks were completed after the birth of my son, in a very short period of time, as a simple exercise: can I continue to make music in this new reality, with these new responsibilities? The answer, of course, is yes, why wouldn’t I be able to? Still, it’s nice to have some confirmation of this.
